


| 2009 WSOP Main Event |
| The WSOP is considered the toughest and most famous tournament in the world. This years Main Event was launched by Mr. Las Vegas, Wayne Newton. The World Series of Poker Main Event started on Thursday July 3rd at 12:00 p.m. The Main Event had its second highest number of entrants with 6,844. Second only to the 2006 WSOP Main Event which had a record 8,773 entrants. The prize money for this years winner is $9,119,517. Since The WSOP has become such a large event, day one is now four days long. The Main Event's first day is now split into four sessions. On July 3rd day 1-A will be played, July 4th is day 1-B, July 5th is day 1-C and July 6th is day 1-D. The Main Event a 13 day long tournament and this year the final table will not be play until November 9th. Television coverage of the finals will be shown on ESPN starting at 9 p.m. ET on Nov. 11. In previous years the winner was always known before the event was televised. This should create more excitement and suspense for the results of the final table. |

The Main Event this year will start on July 3rd and on July 15th the final nine will be determined. Then there will be a four month delay again, like last year before the final table will play on November 7th to the 10th. The WSOP has become such a large event that day one is now four days long. The Main Event is a 13 day long tournament and this years final table will be played on November 7th. This years WSOP drew 6,494 competitors. The winner will walk away with $8.5 million. 648 players will finish in the money. The top 60 players will finish with $100,000 plus each. The prize pool this year is over $61 million with 308 tables. |
