Buffets
Las Vegas has always been known for it's buffets.
The first buffet started at the first Las Vegas hotel
and resort on the strip, owned by Beldon
Katleman. It was the El Rancho hotel and casino
resort in the early 1940's and the buffet was
called the Midnight Chuck Wagon Buffet. The
buffet was started to keep gamblers on the
property during late night hours. The original
buffet cost $1.00 and the idea then spread to
other hotels and casinos. Today almost all the
major Las Vegas hotels and casinos have a buffet.

rooms and one restaurant. The Resort burned down in 1960.
